Marina, 18, orphaned at a young age, must travel to the Atlantic coast of Spain to get a signature for a scholarship application from her paternal grandparents whom she has never met. She finds herself surrounded by a multitude of new uncles, aunts and cousins, not knowing whether she will be welcomed with affection or meet resistance. Awakening long-buried emotions, rekindling tenderness and discovering unspoken wounds tied to the past, Marina pieces together the fragmented and often contradictory memories of the parents she barely remembers.
