Alcarràs

Alcarràs, a small village in Catalonia. For as long as they can remember, the Solé family has lived off the fruit of a land that isn’t theirs but to which they dedicate all their efforts. This year’s harvest, however, could be the last: the landowner has new plans for the orchard, the peach trees must make way for solar panels. The imminent felling of the trees they’ve cared for their entire lives causes a deep rift within the large family, who for the first time find themselves facing an uncertain future, risking the loss of something even more precious than their home. Alcarràs, the film by Carla Simón that won the Golden Bear at the latest Berlin Film Festival.
